Volunteers

The volunteers have almost been here two weeks. Since there arrival my schedule has been so full of questions, planning, errands, and helping them in any way I can. I have loved it. I’m learning lots about leadership and the type of leader I am. It’s been interesting because I have had so many opportunities to lead or head up a project, event, or program in my life. I am drawing upon all my prior experience to be a good leader here. Some days I worry I’m not doing it right. So far the volunteers have been super helpful, kind, loving, and understanding. We are a team, and as such we’re in this together. The hard days are met with laughs and positive attitudes. Each volunteer is unique and has something specific that they are bringing to the table. I love our small team and couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve already accomplished. The best moments come when we’re all together, walking through the streets of a slum or village, greeting the people, and putting smiles on theirs and our faces.
